Red Dead Redemption 3 ‘open-world map’ concept includes Mexico and South America

Ask most gamers which Rockstar game they’re excited for and the answer will probably be GTA VI. Ask someone cool, however, and they’ll tell you it’s Red Dead Redemption 3.

As I’m sure you’ve probably heard by now, Red Dead Redemption 3 is coming at some point. Probably not a huge surprise, given Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most popular games ever made, but nice to know all the same.

Speaking with the Jefferies Virtual Global Interactive Entertainment Conference last year (via VGC), Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick compared his company’s major franchises – including Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto – to James Bond, in that they’ll just keep going forever.

Zelnick did stress that we’ll be in for a long wait for the next Red Dead, however. Considering GTA VI is still a few years away at least, that’s not too shocking.

“It also requires you to be thoughtful and willing to rest the titles, so you have a sense of, ‘wow, this is a rare event,'” Zelnick explained. “I’ve always said that annualizing non-sports titles runs the risk of burning out the intellectual property, even if it’s good. So we take the time to make something we think is incredibly phenomenal, and we also rest titles intentionally so that there’s pent-up demand for that title, so it’s a special event.”

While we wait (possibly years) for more news on Red Dead Redemption 3, fans are already desperately imagining what the game could look like, where it could be set, and who could star.

It’s a hugely ambitious bit of work, and were Rockstar to actually use something like this for inspiration, let’s just say it’d take a long old time to travel from one end of the map to the other. But, you know, for now let’s maybe just focus on GTA VI.

Red Dead Redemption 3 confirmed by Rockstar parent company

Red Dead Redemption 3 is coming, so hold on to your cowboy hats. anyway, eventually.

The less well-known Red Dead Revolver kicked off the critically acclaimed western series back in 2004. Before Red Dead Redemption 2’s jaw-dropping performance in 2018, it was Red Dead Redemption’s 2010 release that established the series as legendary. If we’re being honest, we haven’t completely gotten them yet.

We probably shouldn’t expect to see the third installment any time soon given the enormous gap in time between Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 (eight years), as well as the fact that Rockstar is now working on a small game named GTA VI. If it showed up on the current generation of consoles, I’d be shocked.

But, we now have confirmation that the game is indeed coming. Zelnick likened his company’s top franchises, like Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto, to James Bond in that they’ll keep going until the universe burns out or the series stops making money. Zelnick made this comparison while speaking with the Jefferies Virtual Global Interactive Entertainment Conference last year (via VGC). whichever occurs initially.

The CEO remarked, “If it’s truly, really amazing, it will keep continuing.” “I don’t know whether you saw it, but the newest Bond movie I just saw was fantastic. You want every series to be like the James Bond films. Even though there aren’t many franchises in the entertainment industry that fit that description, some do exist. And I believe that GTA, Red Dead, and NBA are among them. NBA is certainly one of them because the game will still exist.

Zelnick made it abundantly obvious that there would be a wait. Lest you believe that GTA VI and Red Dead Redemption 3 might ever release in the same decade.

“You must also be considerate and eager to
